Mint Juleps & Grace’s Feminine Branding and Web Design

Mint Juleps & Grace's Feminine Branding | Doodle Dog

Our latest addition to the Doodle Dog family, Mint Juleps & Grace balances sophisticated style with sweet southern charm. Jennifer is the brains and beauty behind this new wedding planning brand; when asked how she simultaneously juggled a full-time Harvard course load and the seamless execution of her own wedding, the answer was simple: “Sipping mint juleps and God’s grace.” We brought this modern southern belle’s style to life with a full feminine branding design and website design that is sure to capture the hearts of brides-to-be throughout Alabama and beyond.

We began this feminine branding identity with a hand-lettered watercolor logo, suiting Jennifer’s personality to a T. The preppy pastel palette leans on bright baby blues and minty fresh greens, complemented by pops of pink here and there.

Why did you start your business?
In a nutshell, I started my business because I was successful, yet uninspired in my current career. As a Harvard graduate, I was incredibly great at what I did, but there came a point where being “great” wasn’t enough. I dreamed of an opportunity that combined my true loves: event design, Southern weddings, public service and my near-obsessive organizational skills. As a humble novice, I searched for a wedding internship to no avail. So, out of pure determination and excitement, I created my own opportunity.

What is unique about your business?
Our team takes great pride in staying in our own lane and doing things a bit differently. While we scour Pinterest boards and devour wedding blogs, we try our darndest (and sometimes fail) to be original. When browsing through other event planner sites, how many use our color palette and design elements? To our knowledge, zero. We genuinely believe in the beauty of originality. After all, our company is named after a cocktail.

What’s on your Playlist?
My Playlist truly depends on my mood, and ranges at any given point. However, today, my personal favorites include Parson James “Stole the Show,” Andra Day “Rise Up,” Lady Gaga “Just Dance,” and Carrie Underwood “Churchbells.”

Where do you find inspiration?
Although it is definitely cliché, I find inspiration everywhere. I find a great deal of inspiration when browsing styled shoots for they are usually incredibly dreamy and over the top. They are oftentimes a bit unrealistic, which I actually love. This challenges me to think through how I could use similar techniques, styles and trends on a much grander scale. However, I find the most inspiration in a super quiet space, just me, my thoughts, an iced coffee and my sketchbook.

Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog?
As an avid blog reader, I always scroll to the bottom of a site to see its creator, especially if I’m in love with the website’s organization and design elements. When searching for wedding vendors, I came across Tracy Melton Artistry and her site was perfectly beautiful! I scrolled down, and learned her website was created by Doodle Dog. I thought, “Hmm…that’s such a unique company name” so I clicked on the link. I browsed through Doodle Dog’s blog posts and visited a few of their created websites. Because of the attention to detail, organization and bringing a business’ personality to life, I was certain that they would create a website one day for me. So, when I founded my business, I immediately reached out to them! I’m certainly glad I did for my website’s organization and design fits my personality to a T.

Why did you feel the time was right to kick off this project?
Truth is, I didn’t genuinely feel the time was right. At least not just right. When I spoke with Nikki, I was a first-time mom to a newborn, and I was nervous to add another project to my already busy life. However, I’ve learned that if I wait until I feel the time is just right and I am truly ready, I would never start anything. I whole-heartedly agree with Sheryl Sandberg’s sentiment of shifting our thinking away from “I’m not ready” to “I want to do that and I’ll learn by doing it.” Additionally, there isn’t a time in my life where I ever remember being truly ready to start anything, such as attending Harvard, starting a family and of course, this new business. The Harvard and family thing turned out beautifully, and I’m hoping for the same results with this new endeavor!

What’s your favorite part of your new site?
Without hesitation, my blog section! I absolutely love every single detail about my blog section. However, if I had to pick one particular aspect, it would be the blog categories. It’s nice to have my blog posts in sections, which keeps visitors from having to scroll through each post to find interesting and helpful posts. For instance, all of my wedding galleries and planning tips are housed in their own categories, which is amazing, as it keeps visitors from having to scroll through page after page to find useful planning tips.

Is there anything else you would like to mention?
Invest in yourself and your business. At times, we have one opportunity to make a first impression with customers, which is oftentimes our website. So, I highly encourage you to make the investment and hire Doodle Dog to ensure your branding/website is a true reflection of you and your business.
