Bakery Website Design
I can’t tell you how excited the team and I were to get to work on the rebrand of Polkadots Bakery, in Austin, Texas. After meeting the owner, Olga, years prior and hearing rave reviews about her from that time on, Polkadots has always been on the top of our dream clients list. During our first meeting, she mentioned, that the specialty and wedding cakes part of the business had really blown up, in comparison to the cupcake portion. So first things first, the name had to change from Polkadots Cupcake Factory – to Polkadots Bakery. In changing the name, we also concentrated on designing a new logo that still had the same fun, happy, approachable feeling to it, but didn’t focus on the graphic icon of the cupcake. So we started from scratch, designing a custom logo, new color fresh color palette (of pinks and oranges), new font selections, and evolved into a new custom WordPress bakery website design, collateral material and more. We love how fun and fresh it all feels together.
How it all began:
In early part of summer 2008, we opened our doors at Polkadots Cupcake Factory — a dream project of husband-and-wife team Olga and Ben. Olga graduated from University of Texas with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Cockrell School of Engineering in 2002, then continued her education at the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, CA. Olga moved back to Austin and took on a day job working with a major consulting firm. While working for the firm during the day, at nights, she experimented with different recipes and developed delicious pastries which eventually became Polkadots cupcakes. After few years of being a corporate excel monkey by day, baker by night, she decided to ditch her button down suits and high heels to put on her aprons full time to create fun, whimsical cookies, cupcakes, and cakes.
