Introducing Austin Texas Brand Design Project for The Music Coordinator
Why did you start your business?
I’ve enjoyed music every since I was a kid. In college, I was part of a music group and the goal was to be famous haha. That didn’t quite happen, but I learned a lot about the music industry. Even after college, I’d show up at parties with music playlists and DJ here and there. People really liked the music. I started as a wedding/event DJ about 6 years ago, but became really serious about it in the last year. My main objective is to provide a premium service that dispels the myths about DJs and improves the client experience during weddings and special events.
What is unique about your business?
I’m “The Music Coordinator”, which means I’m a DJ and an event planner; I’m a true liaison between the client and all event services. To me, the most important thing is to be as engaged as possible throughout the wedding/event process.
What’s on your Playlist?
Depends on the time of day 🙂 For my morning workouts, Drake and Future’s “Jumpman” is probably my favorite. In general, I have a little bit of everything (R&B, Pop, Rock, Rap, Country). Favorite song of all time is Michael Jackson – “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough”. Favorite country song is probably Clint Black – “A Good Run of Bad Luck”. Ask me tomorrow, and I might have different answers for everything 🙂
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in everything. I’m constantly taking notes, making lists, listening to “experts”, listening to podcasts. I try to learn something new every day and to learn as much as possible to make my business successful, to network, and to help others.
Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog?
I really liked their style. It was a mix of fun, professional, and everything in between! Also, I’d been to a few Thursday Therapy’s over the years and liked the concept of networking and learning from others as much as possible. Overall, I was drawn to the Doodle Dog brand.
Why did you feel the time was right to kick-off this project?
The first wedding I did this year was someone who reached out to me on Instagram. At that point, I had no real concept of branding, post times, continuity. But I realized that if someone reached out to me with my page in disarray, lol, there was an opportunity to do even more, and do it the right way!
What’s your favorite part of your new site or new brand?
The logo and brand is totally me! I had my own preconceived notion of what I wanted it to look like. Then I scrapped it and said “Doodle Dog…you’re in complete control”, and it was all for the better. During each step of the process, I would give it a day to look at/print out/study the logo and brand. If I was still happy the next day, I knew it was going in the right direction.
What advice would you give to someone considering a new brand or new launch?
If you have a spark for an idea, do it. Make sure you think through the possibilities. Don’t let anything rush your timetable. But once you have a pretty good idea, go all in. Even if the idea isn’t totally complete, you’ll figure it out along the way 🙂
Is there anything else you would like to mention?
Doodle Dog was so great in this process…taking the time to read my emails, Skype with me, listen to me process and understand what I wanted for my company. Even dealing with me making my own revision rounds 🙂 I’d definitely recommend them to anyone interested in taking their business and brand to the next level!
