Brand Identity Design for Solutions Marketing Group | Doodle Dog

Our recent brand identity design and website for Solutions Marketing Group brings a fresh look to a business with an admirable cause. SMG saw a need for marketing that included consumers with disabilities, and filled it by establishing their own firm to do just that. SMG works with companies across the nation to better include disabled people in clients’ marketing strategies. More inclusive marketing helps each of those companies expand their brand recognition and attract clients—and a fresh look offers the same benefits to SMG.

We kept a simple geometric logo shape, not too far removed for their original mark. With updated font choices, Solutions Marketing Group has a fresh new face to represent their brand.

We extended the brand identity design to include business cards, letterhead, envelopes, and more for a cohesive look across the board. To further unite the brand identity design, we even created custom infographics and a capabilities media kit for SMG to use with clients.

Online, we gave SMG a total overhaul. Keeping in line with their brand identity design, we brought elements of their print pieces to life on-screen. Their previous site had ample information and content, but had gotten a bit dated; we updated and streamlined the site to make it more appealing and user-friendly. Now, site visitors can easily find relevant information and connect with SMG through events, helpful blog posts, and more. Take a look at the new website design here:

And now meet the passionate visionary behind SMG, Carmen Jones:

Why did you start your business?
I became a paraplegic in 1986 as a result of a car accident. As an African-American, woman, I realized companies targeted me as a consumer, but not as a person with a disability. I recognized a void in the marketplace for companies targeting me and my business. I see myself as a bridge builder for companies and government agencies that want to target people with disabilities.

What is unique about your business?
We don’t allow our clients to merely ‘check boxes’ as it relates to disability inclusion in marketing, customer service or employment. We design and implement strategies that permeate the culture.

What’s on your Playlist?
I like a lot of different types of music. My tween daughter keeps me current so I listen to Rihanna and Beyonce’, Justin Timberlake, as well as Megan Trainor. I also like contemporary Christian music. I have Kirk Franklin, Chris Tomlin and I always get a little Whitney Houston in.

Where do you find inspiration?
I get inspired from Fast Company, my executive coach, and also Amy Porterfield.

Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog?
After reviewing different companies, I found Nikki to be very quick to understand what I wanted to convey.

Why did you feel the time was right to kick-off this project?
I felt a shift in my personal and business life and needed to refresh of the site. The time was right.

What’s your favorite part of your new site or new brand?
The colors. When people think of disability it can sometimes still bring discomfort or it’s perceived as a ‘downer.’ I wanted to have was fresh, upbeat and positive. I think Nikki and her team captured that well.

What advice would you give to someone considering a rebrand or relaunch?
Hmmm… pace yourself. Do not try to do it all very fast. You have to realize that your site is your face to the public and you want to make sure it captures the essence of your brand. Sometimes that can’t be rushed.
