New website and blog for Dallas Photographer
Excited to introduce another very talented photographer as a Doodle Dog client. Hansel Dobbs has been in business for 6 years and is a boutique wedding photography business that takes a small number of wedding each as well as family/child portrait sessions.
Here is his look at his new website that we designed and developed for him….
GET TO KNOW HANSEL:
Why did you start your business? I’ve always loved photography and I got to a point that I realized I love portraiture and I love expensive photography equipment. So, it didn’t take me too long to realize that wedding photography was the cure. I’ve been photographing weddings ever since and I now have a bunch of really nice lenses to help me take cool photographs.
What is unique about your business? It doesn’t make me unique, but I love photography. Out of that love for it, I am constantly trying new things and thinking about what else I can do to give my clients a portfolio of photographs that is dynamic. I want to give them great portraits, both modern and traditional; I want to give them great close ups and distant shots; I want to give them great direct sunlight pictures as well as softer lit photographs; I want to try and use all of those techniques that you read about in nearly every photography book in one session so they don’t get bored looking through hundreds of photographs. I want each photograph to essentially stand on its own, independent of the others. My pursuit of this, I believe, is what make me unique.
What is the process like to work with you? The cornerstone of my interactions with my clients is that I respond very quickly to all emails and voicemails. Most of the time, I respond within the hour that they communicate with me. From beginning to end, I typically work with a client for around a year and I think it’s important that I am responsive to their needs and concerns. I answer all of their questions, provide them with vendor leads, tell them what a typical wedding day is like and what to expect, and hold their hand through the album process. All kinds of things come up and I think my communication is one of the strongest aspects of my business as should be in any business. It’s what I would expect so it’s what I deliver.
Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog? I saw a prior website launch of yours and then found out that you were very active in the same photographer circles as myself. Knowing that you were committed to this community of wedding vendors and not just a random web developer out there in internetland was important.
Tell us about your family. I have a beautiful wife, Laura, who is a 4th grade science teacher that points out the kinds of clouds in the sky and knows all the phases of the moon by heart. I also have a wonderful and cute 14 month old son, Carson. We like to eat breakfast together every morning and give each other high-fives.
Do you have any pets? What are their names? I have a dog Molly that is half schnauzer and half dachshund. It’s hard to picture, I know.
Where do you like to shop? If I’m not shopping online then you will most likely find me at Best Buy, Borders, or an Apple Store.
Describe yourself and your style. I am a little introverted, but I talk passionately about the things I’m really into if I find someone else that’s interested as well. Things are rough on the style front these days with a 14 month old. I typically wear t-shirts or things that I don’t mind getting slobber or food on. It’s hard to keep shirts clean. However, if I want to be stylish then J.Crew and Lucky Brand Jeans is where it’s at for me.
Where do you find inspiration? It’s a long list, but at the top of that list is Image is Found, Zack Arias, Chase Jarvis, and Nick Onken.
