How Long I’ve been in business:

This will be my second full season! What I do:

I am a design-focused wedding and event planner.  We customize our services based on what our client’s unique event needs are!  We primarily work with people who need assistance with the design components of their wedding or event (color, layouts, general look and feel or theday etc.) and also need help with the logistics and planning of their big day.

Why I started my business:  

I went to college for fine arts– specifically painting, art education and art history, and I have always known that I wanted to find a way to bring beauty to life through creativity.  After helping my sister plan her wedding and then planning my own wedding, I realized that this is something that I loved doing and that allowed me to be creative and put a lot of my interests and skills to use every day.

What is unique about my business:  Part of what makes my business unique is me.  The way I run my business and approach weddings and events is an extension of my personality.  I love working with people and I love to have fun.  I am also extremely detail-oriented and organized, while still being a dreamer, imaginative and able to see the big picture.  In short I work with clients to ensure every detail of their event is meticulously planned and thoughtfully executed, while I also work and create to see that the personal details of their day come together to produce a beautiful event.  I pour my heart, soul and creative energy into every wedding I plan.  In order to be able to do this and provide my clients with a high level of service I limit the amount of weddings I take on each year to about 12. What is the process like to work with me: 

When I first begin working with clients it is all about getting to know them, learning all about their personal love story and their lives.  From there I really try to communicate openly and frequently with my clients and be there when they need to vent or need help with making a decision.  Most of my clients become friends throughout the planning process because we spend so much time together.  When it comes down to the wire or the day of the event I like to be there for my clients, the vendors or guests, but I also like to blend in with the crowd and not be an overwhelming presence.  On the day of an event you will see me wearing a dress that matches the wedding decor, running around to make sure everything is good to go, while laughing at the same time and of course crying during the ceremony.

Why did I choose Doodle Dog: Someone that I really admire in the wedding industry recommended Doodle Dog and said that I would love working with Nikki (which I did.)  After I talked with Nikki on the phone, I realized that this was who I wanted to work with because I felt like she understood what I was looking even if I couldn’t clearly articulate it.  I love that Doodle Dog has such a broad and wide-range of website styles and designs in their portfolio because to me that means they really personalize their service and design to their clients.  Something that I value and strive to do in my own business. Favorite part of my new design: That’s a tough one!  I love so many things about my new look, but if I had to pick one it would be the watercolor elements.  This was something that was important for me to incorporate because painting is a huge part of who I am and one of the things that I love to do to get inspired.   Family:  My husband Chris and I live in Maine.  My parents live in Tucson and I have two older sisters, one that lives in San Francisco and the other lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with my brother-in-law.  Needless to say we are spread out all over the country! Pets: I have one dog and his name is Arlo, but we also call him #thesnuffler, along with a lot of other nicknames! Where I like to shop: I’m not a huge shopper, but when I do shop I love to shop at J. Crew and Anthropologie.  To me stores with great merchandizing and design along with bright colors and inspiring details are what I enjoy most. Describe yourself and your style:   My style and personality are a lot like my business.  I am a true romantic and have a lot of interests.  I enjoy being around people especially my family and friends.  I love to visit art museums or galleries as much as I love being active and going for walks with Arlo and Chris.  I love to paint and make collages, decorate my home and work on special projects for my clients.  I love the sunshine and bright colors, but tend to be more minimal and neutral when it comes to my personal style. Where do I find inspiration: I am most inspired by my clients and their unique love story, but also by my environment.   I definitely get my best ideas when I go for walks with Arlo or when I’m enjoying the sunshine and laying on a beach by the ocean.  Is there anything else you would like to mention?  The biggest compliment I have received about my website was from a former client who called me right away to let me know that they loved my new website and really felt it captured what I do and my style.  Communicating what I do and my style was the most important thing to me when I decided to build a new website.  What I offer is a service and an abstract one at that.  It is hard to show images or a neat package of what I offer my clients.  To hear that my website communicated just that, and especially from a former client, means that Nikki and the entire Doodle Dog team did an amazing job.  I could not be happier with the result!  Thank you!
