The updated logo debuted on a business card fashioned for their new identity…
Ideally, we wanted to bring more softness to Sweet Pea’s previously hyper-retro look by bringing it a touch of something likened to Anthropologie’s finesse; and so delicate details like the texture of lace, linen, and rounded corners were incorporated into their new graphics array that was, in-turn, carried out in a new website design…
..and a blog…
There you have it! Keep up with Sweet Pea Events at the new site, www.SweetPeaEvents.net.
For now, we’d also like you to get to know more about this booming Dallas Event Planning business and its crew of hard workers with a word from Sweet Pea’s Kelly Simants and Meaghan Cody:
What is the name of your business? Sweet Pea Events
How long have you been in business? K: Full-time since 2007; part-time since 2001 so I’ve been in the industry over 10 years
What do you do? We provide event planning services for social celebrations – weddings are the bulk of our business, however we also love planning birthday parties, non-profit fundraisers, etc. We can jump in where you left off in the planning, or create an event from start to finish.
Why did you start your business? K: I have always wanted to be an Entrepreneur – in fact, it started at the young age of 13 as I had my own plastic jewelry company called “Funky Fashions”. I sold the jewelry to a local boutique and even had SKU numbers. After I had been in the Corporate world working in Human Resources for 8 years, I decided it was time to take the risk and go full-time with my own event planning company. I wanted to be able to do something that I loved and something where I was able to use my gifts and creativity. I also love the business side of owning a business – it fascinates me, so I truly enjoy the strategy behind owning and growing my business.
What is unique about your business? Our niche is that we’re “matchmakers” – once we understand our clients’ personalities, style and budget we can usually send them one wedding pro in each category (Photographer, Florist, etc.) and our brides usually book them. We love being able to steer clients in the direction of awesome pros, and we also love referring our wonderful clients to our colleagues!
What is the process like to work with you? We are trustworthy, fun and creative event professionals who will delight you with the ultimate peace of mind and extraordinary service! We also try to have a good sense of humor and laugh while we work
Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog? Top-notch customer service, hands down. Nikki is extremely patient, flexible, and easy to work with. She never misses a deadline and I knew if I selected her to help us re-brand it would be nothing short of fabulous. She always has a “no problem” attitude about her, and always provides her service with a smile. Refreshing to work with someone who truly “gets” what customer service is all about! Thanks Nikki! J
About You: Tell us about your family K: I am married to my hubby Chris (going on 5 years) and we have a sweet son, Carson….although he’s going through the terrible 2’s right now so he’s not always sweet. I love my little family! Do you have any pets? K: Yes, an Australia shepherd mix (we think) named Scratchy. He’s a shelter dog so we’re not completely sure if that’s what he is, but he’s a pretty sweet dog. J Where do you like to shop? K: Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, Anthro, Tar-jay! Describe yourself and your style. K: I’m laid-back and try not to take things too seriously. I like to work hard and play hard. Most people don’t think this about me but I’m an introvert at heart…even though I love being around people, I am more energized after I have some alone time. Of course, that might also be due to the fact that I have a 2 year old and 6 month old puppy at my feet most of the day. Where do you find inspiration? Design blogs like Coco+Kelley – www.cocokelley.com, dreaming up ideas with colleagues because we inspire each other, and of course Martha! A Day in the life of you consist of: K: Yikes. I’m not sure I want to write this out, but here it goes. Wake up (drag myself out of bed…so not a morning person!) Make a large pot of coffee. Eat cereal – Golden Grahams is my fave! So bad, but soooo good. Feed Carson breakfast while scanning emails/texts on my iPhone…respond to urgent emails and save others for when I have focused time. On Tues/Thurs Carson goes to a mom’s day out program so I get him ready, run him to “school”, then head out to meetings with clients or wedding pros. On Wednesday Meaghan (my Sweet Pea side-kick) graciously changes hats and helps with Carson for a few hours while I work in the office…usually on conference calls or responding to emails – both of which are challenging to do while being a work-from-home momma, so I have found that I NEED to have a sitter to have somewhat normal office hours that I keep. During busy season, I try to take Mondays off since I’m normally working weekends…and Fridays are usually spent in rehearsals and prepping for weddings. In the evenings, I usually have 1-2 appointments/week with brides and the other nights I try to keep open to be with family, bible study, work out, etc. I’m a night owl so typically go to bed at 11 or midnight after I’ve checked out a few wedding blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and caught up on a few more emails. Wake up. Rinse. Repeat. I love my job. M: Ummm I wake up (after my alarm goes off about 7 times), turn on the news and try to make myself get out of bed, which usually takes about ten to fifteen minutes. And then I get ready for the day while trying to avoid lying back down! J I hate mornings… Then I typically head to work, whether I am playing with Carson or doing things for Sweet Pea! Once I get to work I usually eat my breakfast with a LARGE cup of coffee and catch up on blogs, Facebook, and Twitter. Throughout my day I answer e-mails, follow up with clients, plan Thursday Therapy for the following month, blog, and secretly follow the Texas Rangers online when they have day games! I live off of to-do lists and my calendar so you will always find those right next to me! On days that I’m not with Carson I try and spend a little time with him after work either playing with chalk, choo choos, or cars! He’s just way too cute to not play with! J After I leave work I either have dinner plans, meetings or networking events! I try to go to 3 networking events a month and I also serve on the committee for the Dallas Children’s Holiday Parade which always has things popping up here and there. Other nights I like to spend time with the people I love and of course attending the Ranger games whenever I can! Before I go to bed I typically catch up on my reality TV shows that I’ve missed, and make my to-do list for the next day! And then the fun starts all over again! What is your web address? www.sweetpeaevents.net Do you have a blog? http://sweetpeaevents.net/blog/ Additional Comments? I am also co-owner of Sage Wedding Pros, a consultancy dedicated to creating sustainable business in the wedding and event industries. In the little spare time that I have, I love to travel, play tennis, go wine tasting, and enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. Oh, and I LOVE dark chocolate. Thank You Sweet Pea Events, we appreciate your business! |
