We have had the best time working with Heather, a very talented stationery designer and owner of Simply Designed. Since Heather is a designer herself, she was able to create her brand identity herself and simply brought us on to develop her website for her and make it an easy eCommerce platform for her to showcase her products and allow customers to purchase stationery sets from her directly online. Here’s a look at the new site!       Get to know Heather a bit more:

1. What is the name of your business? Simply Designed
2. How long have you been in business? 4 years
3. What do you do? I’m a stationery designer, providing custom designs for weddings, birth announcements, and other large momentous events in life.  Or as one of my brides recently called me, a maker of stationery magic… I might put that on my business cards!
4. Why did you start your business?  It all started about 10 years ago when my best friend asked me to design her wedding invitations. With my degree in graphic design, I jumped at this opportunity. We had so much fun playing with paper, picking fonts and coming up with the perfect design. I fell in love with the process of designing wedding invitations because it is a wonderfully creative adventure that brings happiness to others as they share life’s biggest moments. I have been designing wedding invitation packages, birth announcements, and other special event invitations ever since.
5. What is unique about your business?  I know that the available options and timelines involved with stationery design can sometimes feel a little overwhelming along with terminology, so I am here to help every step of the way. I work hand in hand with my clients helping them choose the perfect combination of materials and artwork for their special event—but more than that, I want to help everyone have fun with the design process!
6. What is the process like to work with you?  I start all projects off with a free consult, where it gives my potential clients a chance to interview me, and make sure we click together.  Once a contract is signed, I work hand in hand with my clients to make their vision a reality. Every decision is a joint venture, I want my clients to have full involvement with every step of the way, from picking the fonts to picking the paper… oh yeah, have fun!
7. Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog? This is where I get to make my shout out. Alexandra from Heart Love Weddings, highly recommended Doodle Dog, while I was frustrated with my current site. My site at the time wasn’t able to handle the growth that I was experiencing as a small business and I it was tapping out my knowledge of web design. I needed something that would be able to grow and expand as my business grew. I couldn’t be happier that I found Doodle Dog. They have been amazing to work with, and I have to say exceeded all of my expectations. I’m more than happy to refer them to everyone and anyone!
8. Tell us about your family. Ha! That is a can of worms… 🙂 I come from a fairly large, loud and passionate family. Family get togethers are never dull, and always provide for fun times. My immediate family consists of my two furbabies.
9. Do you have any pets? What are their names? We do! We have two furbabies, both very energetic kitties. Abby, who is our baby girl, is a rescue from Best Friends Animal Society and came all the way to DC from UT, yes I know nuts! And then there is Jake, or newest family member. He is a very energetic 1.5 year old  Turkish Van who keeps us entertained with his crazy antics, and his ability to play fetch for hours.
10. Where do you like to shop? ooo… That is a hard one. Those that know me, know that I’m not a big shopper… gasp! I really can’t stand picking out clothing for myself (that is what my BF and sister is for!) But my favorite store to get lost in is Politics and Pros. It is a small little book shop in Washington DC.
11. Describe yourself and your style. I’m very laid back but am always up for a good adventure. I love exploring and finding new and exciting places. As for my style, I feel like it is always evolving, but I have always come back to clean and elegant.

12. Where do you find inspiration? Everywhere and anywhere. Most of the times something small, like a color combination will spark something.   A Day in the life of you consist of: Wow, My day is never the same. This is the first year that my business is full time, so currently my schedule consists of a 7:00am wake up, snuggles with the kitties in the morning while eating breakfast catching up on the world news. I typically start answering e-mails around 8:00am, and my day is off and running, from press checks, to paper rep meetings, bridal consults, and working with some of my freelance clients.  If I can swing it, I also love meeting up with some of my designer friends. We keep each other fresh and honest with our design. It is always good to have a great support group when owning your own business.
