The Silver Starfish has a new logo and website!
Kristen at the Silver Starfish boutique came to us ready to polish up their look and create a new brand identity for her business. We created a simple and playful motif of white and grey, accompanied by subtle coral and teal accents. The fresh take on their new logo design, brand identity and website were inspired by Kristen’s never ending passion that led her to turn something she loves into a great career.
Take a look at her new logo!
Business Cards (Kristen went above and beyond when printing these with a great heavy card stock and elegant foil stamped lettering that will really give her a great first impression).

Get to know Kristen and her business a little better, here is a spotlight on anything and everything you should know about The Silver Starfish!
How long have you been in business?
Since 2008
What do you do?
I get to work with tons of amazing brides, couples, and customers making their paper visions into realities! I help them choose, or design for them, the best invitations and printed accessories to fit their style, budget, and needs.
Why did you start your business?
You can read more about this subject on our awesome new website, but the short version is that it was a side passion of mine that turned into a real job and an actual business when the company that I was previously a store manager for sadly and abruptly went out of business.
What is unique about your business?
We are a one-stop-shop for everything from the save the date, to the invitation, to even napkins and custom drink stirrers, and everything paper or printed in between. Plus, we offer invitation brands as well as custom, designed from scratch invitations as well. If you don’t want to choose from an album, you don’t have to!
What is the process like to work with you?
I’d like to think that it’s personal, easy, and dare I say a little fun! In a nutshell, we meet or discuss the design, we provide a price quote and once contracted, digital proofs are created and sent to you, we make changes together until they are approved and perfect, then we print/cut/glue/whatever else is needed to complete the order, and send them away with love to the customer! Invitations, done.
Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog?
Well obviously because of the beautiful work that they had done in the past! That and a friend in the business referred me. I’m a bit of a perfectionist (I’m sure Nikki can attest to that) and I had originally created my own website that just wasn’t up to snuff with all the Pinterest-savvy brides today, so turning to Doodledog for their expertise was the obvious choice. When you own a business, there are just some things that you can’t tackle that are better left to the professionals!
What’s your favorite part of your new look?
It’s bright, fresh, and downright pretty! OK well there are probably better, more specific reasons than that, but honestly that about sums up my feelings of it.
Tell us about your family.
My immediate family currently consists of just my amazing husband Steve right now, who is my rock and whom I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without! I also have 2 younger sisters, my wonderful parents, and a whole 2nd family of in-laws supporting me! Basically I’m a lucky girl.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, one adorable 7 lb Toy Fox Terrier named Bentley. He comes to work with me almost every day, and has been dubbed “The Shop Dog” around here.
Where do you like to shop?
Honestly some of my favorites are the cute little boutique shops around town here, but J.Crew, Nordstrom, and any Tory or Lilly store also tend to suck me in.
Describe yourself and your style.
Well, my style is constantly changing I think, but for the most part I gravitate towards styles with feminine aspects like pearls, lace, sparkly things etc. I’m also apparently obsessed with boots and flowy shirts because I wear them a lot.
Where do you find inspiration?
Oh everywhere – in the most random places usually! It’s not hard to be inspired in Charleston I think, there’s always something historical or intriguing everywhere you look. Sometimes I get inspired from a unique color palette of a house or some flowers, or from an interesting pattern in some tilework or a rug/curtains, from some intricate ironwork, or even sometimes just by a font itself!
A Day in the life of you consist of:
Wake up at 8:00 (yep this girl is not a morning person at all!), have a cup of coffee and some breakfast, get ready, walk to the studio, answer emails and update some proofs while listening to music, lunchtime workout and then lunch, print/cut/glue/work on whatever project(s) is currently in production for the rest of the afternoon, walk back home, get dinner ready, and then settle onto the couch with my hubby and puppy and watch whatever TV series we currently have recorded on our DVR until bedtime.
