Meet the Famous Celina Gomez
No not the famous Disney songstress Selena Gomez…I’m talking about Dallas’ own talented wedding photographer Celina Gomez.
Formally known as the owner of Captivating Simplicity Photography, Celina an I met a few months back at Thursday Therapy and we started chatting about all of the changes that she wanted to make to her brand, and even tossing around the idea of becoming Celina Gomez Photography…and from there the ideas became reality.
We started with rebranding from the logo to the business card and every element in between. Celina was looking for a brand that represented her emotional, romantic and simplistic wedding photography. She wanted her brand to be bright, happy and memorable.
A simple combination of this pale orange and green gives Celina the elegant and joyful look:
Next up was the business card. We created a beautiful die cut card that matched the overall design. We are printing the card on letterpress quality paper to represent the soft nature of her brand.
After we finished up the card we went straight to the website, where the real work took place. We designed and developed a website that displayed Celina’s work and had a clean and simplistic layout that would not distract from her photography.
Here is the complete design package:

Working with Celina has been such a great opportunity and so much fun to say the least…. she is so talented and entertaining, so after we wrapped up the project I asked Celina to tell us a little more about herself and her business:
How long have you been in business?
A little less than 3 years
Why did you start your business?
Photographing weddings kinda fell into my lap. I had always been fascinated by photography but never really thought about perusing it as a career. I photographed a friends wedding because she didn’t have a photographer and that was the beginning of my journey into wedding photography. I fell completely in love with it. So I completely immersed myself into this field and haven’t looked back since.
What is unique about your business?
I think wedding photography is a very interesting field in which you work so closely with a couple in one of the most important, emotional, exciting times of their lives. To me it’s a very intimate job, and I treat it as such. I like to offer my clients more than just pretty pictures, I like to offer them an experience. I feel by being able to connect with my clients personally I can produce more intimate, real, and relaxed photography which really shows their true personalities as people and as a couple.
What is the process like to work with you?
First I love to have what I call “phone dates” this is just something I like to do before meeting a couple. I generally ask basic questions about what they expect and want from their wedding photographer. After this phone date comes the face to face meeting. At our face to face meeting I love to hear about the couple and how they met. What they have already planned for their wedding and their overall vision for their day. I really like to get a good understanding of what they need from me as their photographer because every couple is different and has different needs. I really like to customize my photography services to suite the couple I’m working with. We go over pricing, and all the technical details. After a couple books with me I like to get the engagement session scheduled as soon as possible. The engagement session is something I think of as mandatory. I think it’s VERY important if possible to work with my couples prior to their wedding day. I want to see how they interact with each other, get them comfortable with me and in front of my camera so that by the time the wedding day comes we are all on the same page. Next comes bridals, then wedding day, and finally the album process begins after all final images have been given to the couple. Through out the entire process I make sure that the couple is involved and that they know their opinion matters. After all the wedding photos are about them not me.
Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog?
Nikki had a great personality and was very knowledgeable about the things I felt my business needed. She was very responsive and had some great ideas right off the bat. She really understood my vision of where I wanted my new brand to go so I hired her after meeting with her over lunch.
Tell us about your family.
I’m a mother to 3 year old daughter who badly wants a baby brother, I’m a wife to a wonderful man who supports me and loves me flaws and all. AND I can’t forget our four legged daughter Josie, she’s our 65 lb Pitt Bull who will lick you to death.
Where do you like to shop?
If I had time to shop and had a body like Beyonce I would shop at Bebe. 😉
Describe yourself and your style.
I would say I’m outgoing. I like to have fun and I don’t take myself too seriously. I’m a workaholic and a perfectionist. I would say my photography style is a mixture of several things. I love fresh, clean images, but I also love dramatic moody pictures. I love to work with natural light as well as artificial light to create unique images. I want you to view your photos and feel beautiful. I want your photos to stir up a memory of something you may have forgotten about until viewing the photo. I want you to laugh out loud because of a photo. Overall my goal is document your day in a very real and intimate way that leaves you with beautiful images that you’ll be proud of.
Where do you find inspiration?
Tons of places, but I think I find the most inspiration from every day life and interaction. Sometimes I’ll be cuddling with my husband and a pose will pop into my head inspired by the way were cuddling. I like my photography to be as natural as possible so I find my inspiration in every day life.
A Day in the life of you consist of:
I wake up at 7:30am, check my emails, skip breakfast, catch up on facebook, edit some photos before my daughter wakes up, my daughter wakes up around 8:30ish, I make her breakfast, work for about an hour or so while my husband watches her, get a small work out in most of the time I walk the dog and take my daughter to the park, then I make lunch and spend the day with my daughter until she goes to sleep around 8:30pm then I work until about 12ish, then go to bed.
Celina Added, “I had a fabulous experience with Nikki and found her very easy to work with. I’m super excited and proud of my new brand and website. Definitely a decision I’m very happy I made.”
